A rural district with a forward-thinking vision for the development of its K-12 portfolio of schools, BSPS engaged New Vista Design for a period of five years to assist in teacher training and the development of curriculum development tools and materials.

The five-year training effort within Berrien Springs Public Schools included:


  • Initial planning and coordination with BSPS leadership
  • Introductory and intermediate level middle and high school PBL Workshops (see sample agendas)
  • Co-creation of web-based PBL planning and assessment tools 
  • Monthly meetings with PBL Leadership Team/Teachers
  • Onsite teacher coaching and classroom visits
  • Assistance with planning for student presentations and exhibitions
  • Coordination of curriculum development with school principals
  • Development of PBL within BSPS’s Virtual High School program
